MOUNTAIN VIEW CHEVROLET PLAYER OF THE YEAR CONTEST

 

Eligibility and Who Can Vote

 

    To be eligible to be nominated in this contest, entrants must be residents 13 years of age or older, and be a football player from among one of the Participating High Schools within the WTVC DMA Counties (DMA Counties defined below)Nominations are not open to the public.To be eligible to vote in this contest, voter participants must be Tennessee, Georgia or Cherokee North Carolina residents 13 years of age or older, and reside in the WTVC viewing area.

 

Participating High School DMA Counties are defined as follows:  The WTVC DMA consists of the following counties: Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea, and Sequatchie, Tennessee; Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Murray, Walker, and Whitfield, Georgia; Jackson, Alabama; and Cherokee, North Carolina.

 

2. Employees of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., Sinclair Television of Nashville, Inc., and any other company which owns, programs or provides other services to television broadcast station WTVC (the “Station”), The Douglas Group, Inc. dba UPICKEM, their affiliated companies, advertising and promotion agencies, any and all local television broadcast and cable stations, local radio and other media companies, and the immediate family members of each are ineligible. The term “immediate families” includes spouses, grandparents, parents, siblings, children and grandchildren. Only one weekly winner per household. Weekly winners are eligible for the overall prize.

 

How It Works

 

    There is no purchase necessary to participate as either a nominee or voter.Only a nominee is eligible to win a prize.

     
    The Station’s sports director will receive nominations from the coaches and athletic directors of Participating High Schools via email: darrell@newschannel9.com.Nominations must include the athlete’s name, school, sport and contact information.Each week beginning Wednesday, September 25, 2013 and ending Friday, November27, 2013 (the “Nomination Period”), WTVC TV Sports Anchor Darrell Patterson will select one (1) high school football player from the Participating High Schools to be featured as the Mountain View Chevrolet Player Of The Week.The weekly football player will be selected based on playing statistics, ability, and newsworthiness.Each Thursday during the Nomination Period, the weekly football player selected as Player of the Week will be announced on air during WTVC News programming which airs on News Channel 9 between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM ET.

     
    Each Thursday during the Nomination Period, the Mountain View Chevrolet Player of the week will be posted online on newschannel9.com for the general public to view.

 

4.   At the end of the Nomination Period, each of the nine (9) ) Mountain View Chevrolet Players of the Week  will be eligible for the voting period to determine the Mountain View Chevrolet Player of the Year.  5.           To vote, voter participants will log onto www.newschannel9.com and click on the Sports Tab and then click on a link to the Mountain View Chevrolet Player of the Year contest section to complete the online registration form with your name, age, email and cast your vote.  Participants can vote one time per day during contest beginning 5:00 a.m. EST Friday, November 22, 2013 through 11:59 p.m. EST on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Mountain View Chevrolet Players of the Week are prohibited from obtaining votes by offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public, vote farming, or any other activity that artificially inflates such nominee’s votes as determined by Station in its sole discretion.  The Station reserves the right to determine in its sole and absolute discretion whether the online votes are valid, and may disqualify any duplicate votes.  Multiple and/or irregular votes or multiple votes from the same user or users, including but not limited to, votes generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro, other automated means or other source will be considered invalid.

 

    On November 28, 2013, one (1) Mountain View Chevrolet Player of the Week with the highest number of valid votes, as determined by the Station will be determined as the Mountain View Chevrolet Player of the Year. The Mountain View Chevrolet Player of the Year and his/her winning school will be announced on Thursday, November 28, 2013.

 

 

 

The Prize(s)

 

1.   Each of the nine (9) Mountain View Chevrolet Players of the Week  will receive a Player of the Week plaque valued at $15 supplied by Mountain View Chevrolet.  One (1) Mountain View Chevrolet Player of the Year will be selected and receive a Player of the Year plaque valued at $15 supplied by Mountain View Chevrolet. The Player of the Year’s school will receive a $2,500 donation from Mountain View Chevrolet.  The student council or other student governing body of the winning high school will vote to determine the use of the donation which must benefit the students.

 

2.  Winner(s) will be notified by phone.  Before claiming prizes, winners must provide their correct name, address and telephone number to Station at the time of notification.  Winner(s) must sign and return a release and affidavit of eligibility, which must be received within seven (7) days of notification at the time winner(s) claim his/her prize in person at the Station.  If a winner is a minor, then the winner’s parents or guardian must sign a release and affidavit of eligibility before the winner receives his or her prize.  Winner(s) must show picture identification to claim prizes.  Station reserves the right to examine additional identification and may choose to accept or deny awarding the prize based on the identification presented.

 

3.  If a winner or winning school cannot be notified within seven (7) days, or does not timely sign and return the release and affidavit of eligibility, then the prize will be forfeited, and the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner with the next highest number of valid votes, as determined by the Station in its sole and absolute discretion.

 

4.  There will be no substitutions or cash alternatives for prizes except at the sole discretion of Station.  The Station has the right to substitute a prize of similar value.  No transfer or assignment of prizes is allowed.

 

5.  Each winner is responsible for paying all local, county, state and federal taxes on prizes based on the estimated retail value of the prizes as set forth in these rules.   Winner must sign a W-9 form.  

 

6.  Only one prize will be awarded per winner with the exception of one player who will receive both a Player of the Week and Player of the Year plaque.

 

7.  Sinclair Television of Nashville, Inc.,Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. and Sinclair Television Group, Inc. are not liable if the provider of any part of the prize fails to satisfy its obligations to furnish its portion of the prize

 

8.  Sinclair Television of Nashville, Inc.,  Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. and Sinclair Television Group, Inc. are not responsible for any liabilities arising directly or indirectly from the award or use of the prize.

 

9.  In claiming your prize, you acknowledge that Sinclair Television of Nashville, Inc. , Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. and Sinclair Television Group, Inc. have the right to publicize your name, character, likeness, photograph, voice and the fact that you are the winner for promotional purposes without financial remuneration.

 

Odds of Winning/Miscellaneous

 

1.  Odds of winning depend on the number of votes received.

 

2.  Complete contest rules are available Monday through Friday during normal business hours at WTVC, 4279 Benton Drive, Chattanooga, TN, 37406 and on the Station’s website at www.newschannel9.com.

 

For a list of prize winners, send a separate, self-addressed, stamped envelope to WTVC, 4279 Benton Drive, Chattanooga, TN, 37406 by December 6, 2013.

 

3.  This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.  Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., Sinclair Television of Nashville, Inc., Mountain View Chevrolet, and The Douglas Group, Inc., dba UPICKEM accept no responsibility or liability in connection with any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by or resulting from the acceptance, possession or use of any prize awarded hereunder.

 

4.  Station cannot be held liable for any lost or stolen entries, prizes or contest information.  Station is not responsible for any computer or electronic malfunction, server unavailability, technological glitch, or human error relating to this contest and/or the use of short-code.

 

5.  Station reserves the right to make rules and contest changes and change the aforementioned contest dates.
